What were you doing in November of 2013?

Better yet, who were you in November of 2013? How much have your perspectives, your opinions, your worldviews changed?

How much have you changed?

I've been thinking about this because it hit me earlier this week that November of 2013 is the month that my very first article went "viral."

I was sitting in my apartment in disbelief at the tens of thousands of new views on my statistics every minute that I'd refresh the page.

The article, titled "10 ways to know you're dating a true gentleman," has since generated more than 8 million readers, has been translated into multiple languages, featured throughout the media, and was the spark of a decade-long career (so far) in writing, speaking, coaching, and generating tens of millions of more visitors to my website.

That article went viral months after I'd published it. I still don't have an explanation for how (or why) it happened.

I do know, however, that if I hadn't written it, hadn't put my thoughts into the world, hadn't pursued a vision or idea that I wanted to make a reality - none of this ever would've happened.

Taking even the smallest of actions, the smallest of steps towards achieving a goal, or becoming the person who is capable of doing it, only happens when you feel empowered.

Now, imagine for a moment that you woke up this morning and felt that very sense of empowerment.

Empowered to approach the world with a fresh perspective...one that you've been working to cultivate for longer than you can remember.

You looked into the mirror after getting ready for work and felt a sense of certainty.

Certain about your abilities. Your skills. Your ideas, opinions, and viewpoints.

Certain that you were going to show up today as an even better leader, an even better teammate, an even better partner.

Empowered to make healthier decisions and form healthier habits today. To stop delaying your own progress. To actually go to the gym, to actually cook for yourself instead of ordering takeout. To actually go for a walk during lunch.

Empowered to finally talk to your partner about your wants and needs in the relationship…the conversation you've been putting off for far too long.

Empowered to approach the person you see every day but haven't yet gained the courage to give that compliment to.

Empowered to call that big prospect, or apply for that new position, or accept that leadership role that you've been weighing the responsibilities of.

How would your life change if you woke up every single day with this sense of confidence?

What would you be capable of achieving?

What new relationships, connections, and opportunities could you begin cultivating for yourself?

What negative habits would you break? What positive habits would you create?

What sense of fulfillment could you go to sleep with every single night?

What sense of purpose could you wake up with every single morning?

What sense of confidence could you make every single new decision with?

This isn't a fantasy land, or a fairy tale - it's the result of living life with clarity and certainty around your identity.

It's the direct result of deciding to live an empowered life.
