The Republican presidential nominee has also spent the last decade traveling the country to meet former mayors of other major cities from both parties. His trip to Cleveland in March helped propel Trump to the presidential nomination.
Trump also spoke to the press about an issue he's frequently criticized – gun control: the military-style assault weapons ban.
"I would just say, if people are angry about the things that are happening, it's got nothing to do with getting a law made to ban such guns," Trump said.
"It's about keeping the military out of certain places, but it's just one of those things that will happen."
On Saturday, shortly after Trump announced his first budget call for the next eight years, the House Budget Committee unveiled its first budget in four years, a plan to reduce taxes for Americans to pay for the government. The move is expected to be a big boost for the president's campaign.
Trump also has called his campaign promises to end Obamacare, and have said the Affordable Care Act is important for people like him.
His transition team did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
