The "Gentlemen in White" party is in fact a loose confederation of Republicans who represent Republican-approved sections of the Party, not members of the Democratic Party. It is often described as the "Republican party" - "the party to which I belong" - but it really is not. That in fact only means that the more parties join together, the more members the party needs to have. They are all Democrats, but the number of Republicans is even higher. (The party is the GOP today because only about one in five Republicans know and are registered to vote.)
This is an open secret in the party leadership. They make statements all the while pretending that they can work with the White House unless you are a White House organ (this is also one of the reasons why they keep calling themselves the "White Order")
